What is ECG and why do I need it?
ECG is a recording of the electricity activity of the heart. It is a routine cardiac investigation that provides invaluable information regarding the heart rhythm, its conduction, presence of irregular heartbeats and evidence of heart muscle abnormalities.
How is the procedure performed?
Multiple electrodes are placed over the chest wall and limbs in standard positions. The small electrical signal from the heart is then recorded. The procedure is totally harmless and painless and takes about 5 minutes to perform.
What is an Exercise Stress ECG testing and why do I need it?
An Exercise Stress ECG test is a mean of assessing how you heart and blood vessels response to physical exertion. It provides information about your exercise tolerance, the likelihood if you have blocked artery of the heart, or any evidence of irregular heart rhythm or conduction during exercise.
How is the procedure performed?
Multiple electrodes are placed over the chest wall to monitor the electrical activity of the heart. Multiple ECGs are recorded at rest and while you are exercising on a treadmill. A cardiac technician and a medical practitioner will be with you and guide you throughout the test. Your heart rate, blood pressure and ECG will be continuously monitored. The test takes about 30 minutes to complete.
